SERMON SERIES: WHAT WE DO WHEN WE’RE TOGETHER

Every Sunday, we gather with other Christians to engage in age-old forms of worship to God. But why do we do these things? Why do we insist on doing them together? And how might we engage in them more fully?

In this series, we'll pause to explore what we do when we're together—singing, communion, prayer, preaching, giving—because those things are profoundly important and they're packed with the potential to change us in beautiful ways.

PART 1: WE SING

So what's the deal with singing? Most adults hesitate to sing in front of anyone else, and yet God commands us to get in the same room, open our mouths, and go for it. As we'll see in this message, he has good reasons for doing so.

PART 2: WE EAT & DRINK

Chewing and swallowing as an act of worship? Yes—and that's not the only interesting thing about what we do every week when we share communion together. In this message, we'll explore some of the many layers of meaning behind the Lord's Supper.

PART 3: WE LISTEN

What, exactly, is preaching for—and how should those of us who aren’t preaching approach it every week?

In this message, we’ll explore what God has to say about preaching in Scripture and listen as Justin lets us in on his personal approach and priorities as a preacher. We’ll also consider two things that will ensure that each week’s sermon is a great blessing to us.

PART 4: WE PRAY

What happens when God’s people pray together? A lot. In this message, we explore why God encourages us to gather and talk to him alongside one another.

PART 5: WE GIVE

Ever wonder why God asks us to give to Him, seeing as though He doesn’t need the money? In this message we’ll answer that question and more as we explore one powerful passage of Scripture and 10 common misconceptions about Christian giving.
